As the NHL season gets underway, professional hockey players take to the ice in jam-packed stadiums across North America. However, athletes aren’t the only ones who can be spotted on the rink. Before, during, and after each game, Zambonis are an iconic part of hockey lore that keep the ice in top-notch shape while providing an eye-catching canvas for advertisers. Environmental Lights is proud to light up one of the most recognizable Zambonis at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, the Heineken Zamboni.
Our client wanted to design a Zamboni that would leverage lighting to make the Heineken branding pop and leave a memorable impression on the audience. Our team used our incredibly bright LumenMax LED Strip Light paired with a Flexible Diffusing Sleeve to produce bright, hotspot-free lighting around the top of the Heineken cans and along each side of the vehicle. We also used EdgeLight Narrow Beam Angle Light Bars directed down towards the ice to illuminate and reflect off the newly polished surface as the Zamboni moves slowly across the rink.
The result is a very cool looking Zamboni that uses light to highlight the Heineken brand and instantly draw your attention. Hockey game attendees have posted photos and videos of the vehicle on social media commenting on the beautiful underglow and uniqueness of the design. It’s a great example of how lighting can enhance branding and amplify sponsorship efforts.
