Peoria Museum Decoys Masterworks Exhibit

The Center for American Decoys is a renowned exhibition at the Peoria Riverfront Museum in Illinois. Wooden hunting decoys represent the ingenuity, self-reliance, and ever-evolving relationship humans have had with the natural world around them for generations. Environmental Lights is proud to have helped illuminate the latest showcase in the Center for American Decoys, Masterworks, featuring over 50 of the greatest Illinois River decoys in existence.

In designing this exhibit, selecting high-quality LED products that would thoroughly and accurately highlight each piece of extraordinary craftsmanship was essential. At the same time, we had to consider anything that could cause deterioration to the artifacts, such as UV or IR radiation. Our team worked with the museum, providing multiple iterations of prototypes before settling on the final solution.

Neutral White 2216 TruColor LED Strip Light was selected as the primary lighting solution for its exceptional performance. With a 4000K CCT, CRI of 95+, and a high LED density of 240 LEDs per meter, this strip ensures that every artifact on display is presented brilliantly and in the most accurate colors.

The Environmental Lights Custom Team then cut the strip light to size and installed it into our CS108 Channel System with a diffuser to ensure light was evenly dispersed throughout the display. Additionally, for ease of installation, our custom team installed end caps, connected MiniClick leads with MiniClick Distribution Blocks, and included 96 Watt 24 VDC Adapters with Dimming Knobs to power the installation. This in-house customization provided the integrator with a simple, plug-and-play final product.

Our lights were installed into exquisite display cases built by indigenous craftsmen from the Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma. It is crucial to note that none of this would be possible without the support and expertise offered by members of this indigenous group, and we are incredibly grateful to have worked with them on this project.
