Environmental Lights partnered with City Theatrical to deliver a breathtaking holiday façade lighting installation for the iconic Cartier Mansion on Fifth Avenue in New York City. This project brought together a highly collaborative team led by producer American Christmas, working in coordination with Cartier’s global creative leadership to translate the brand’s holiday vision into a site-specific architectural experience.
The results were extraordinary. The installation transformed two sides of the Cartier Mansion into a fully synchronized animated display, combining precise architectural illumination with vibrant pixel-controlled effects. The system delivered consistent performance throughout the holiday season despite challenging winter conditions, creating one of the most recognizable retail lighting experiences in the world.
Environmental Lights collaborated closely with City Theatrical, American Christmas, and the lighting and media design team at Lunar Telephone Company, led by Chris Werner, to provide advanced low-voltage lighting solutions capable of delivering both vivid color and clean white illumination across the façade’s complex surfaces.
The installation features Eluxtra™ ProFlex PixelControl 4-in-1 RGB + 4000K LED Strip Lights, used to create dynamic color-changing effects and synchronized animations across the Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street elevations. Waterproof Tunable White 2216 TruColor LED Strip Lights (240 LEDs/m) were incorporated to provide refined architectural white light that highlights the building’s historic details. Control was achieved using Advatek PixLite E4-S Mk3 Pixel Controllers, enabling media playback synchronization and seamless pixel mapping for the fully programmed show.
Scenic fabrication was completed by AMA Electric Sign, who engineered custom mounting solutions for the façade elements. System integration and technical infrastructure were led by 4Wall, who designed power distribution, developed waterproof enclosures, and oversaw on-site commissioning.
Throughout the process, American Christmas managed production and installation logistics, coordinating closely with all partners to ensure seamless execution from fabrication through final install. The use of advanced digital previsualization by Lunar Telephone Company allowed the team to refine pixel mapping, animation timing, and synchronized media playback prior to installation, ensuring accuracy and efficiency on site.
The Cartier Mansion now stands as a global example of how architectural lighting and media integration can elevate a luxury retail environment.
