W.A.R.Lords (We Are Robot Lords)
Robotics Team of Francis Parker High School
EnvironmentalLights.com is a proud sponsor of the student robotics team, the W.A.R.Lords at Francis Parker High School in San Diego. This will be the team’s sixth year in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition and Science and Technology) Robotics Competition.
“We are so impressed by the W.A.R.Lords. These highly motivated high school students are seen as leaders in robotics among other high schools in the U.S., and each year they develop new technical and leadership skills,” said Greg Thorson, President of EnvironmentalLights.com. “As a mentor to W.A.R.Lords, I look forward to this year’s build season and competitions as much as the students!”
FIRST Robotics Competition
The FIRST Robotics Competition is an exciting, multinational competition that teams professionals and young people together to solve an engineering design problem in an intense and competitive way. FRC gives high school students (grades 9 – 12) a kit of parts and about six weeks to build a robot to meet the challenge of the game announced for the year.
Competition Kickoff: Ultimate Ascent
Dean Kamen, creator of the FIRST Robotics Competition, announced the game for the 2013 season Saturday, January 5 via a live NASA-TV broadcast and webcast that went out to nearly 51,000 high school students in 81 cities worldwide. Watch co-president of the W.A.R.Lords, Nicole Simmons, on KUSI News at the San Diego kickoff event News Coverage.
