What it does, in plain English, is it takes the DMX output from any standard DMX console, controller or whatever, and decodes the signal so you can drive 4-wire LED Red-Green-Blue lights. Such as LED wall washers. LED strip lighting. LED Modules.

Works great for either of the 2 common voltages, 12 Volts DC or 24 Volts DC.

• Common anode (+); signal lines are ground, so the signal is inverted, which is typical

We rate this at 27 watts per channel = 80 watts total. The manufacturer rates it higher, but that's a peak power, not sustained power rating.
• Set the DIP switch for the DMX address you choose. Typically, for a single-zone installation, the address will be set to "1" (shown in the picture nearby.) This establishes the address of the lowest channel of the 3 (usually red.) The pictures shows the decoder configured for red on channel 1, and the other two colors (green and blue) would be on channels 2 and 3. For a second zone, you might set the decoder DIP switches to 4 ("0000000100") and use red as 4, green as 5 and blue as 6.

• If your DMX controller or console provides a 5-pin XLR output instead of a 3-pin XLR output, buy a DMX XLR 3-pin female to 5-pin male converter cable, which mates with the input cable that comes with this DMX decoder.

We sold an RJ11 input version of this decoder until replacing it with this RJ45 version. Other than the width and pinout of the jack, there are no differences.
