Tallest fresh-cut Christmas tree in country to be decorated with LED lights
The tallest fresh-cut Christmas tree in the country recently arrived at Outlets at Anthem, in Arizona, and is ready to be adorned with LED Christmas lights in time for the holiday season, according to AZFamily.
The tree measures in at 112 feet - slightly taller than the wingspan of a Boeing 727 - and is substantially taller than the largest tree ever displayed at the Rockefeller Center in New York City, the news source reports. Officials from Outlets at Anthem had to use a 75-foot stretch trailer to transport the tree 750 miles from its home near the border between Northern California and Oregon. This will be the third year in a row that the tallest fresh-cut Christmas tree in the country has been placed in Anthem.
"We love to be able to offer something fabulous to our guests in the Phoenix area and around the world," Outlets at Anthem spokeswoman Sallyann Martinez told the news source. "Our holiday festivities have long been a favorite throughout Arizona, drawing visitors from around the state and attention from across the nation."
This year's version will be decorated with approximately three miles of LED holiday lights. Additionally, the news source reports that approximately 6,000 ornaments and bows will be strewn about the massive tree, along with a three-foot copper star atop the perch. All told, the decorations will bring the tree's weight to 16 tons.
With the tree due to stay lit throughout the Christmas shopping season, LED Christmas lights are environmentally responsible options. According to ENERGY STAR, these LED lights use at least 75 percent less energy than incandescent lighting, which will result in substantially lower energy bills for the outlet mall.
