Barney's teams up with Disney to unveil "Electric Holiday" windows

Barney's, in New York City, has received considerable acclaim for its elaborately decorated holiday theme windows at its flagship store. For this year's celebration, the luxury department store is teaming up with Disney to produce an innovative animated showpiece, replete with LED lighting displays, according to The Huffington Post.

The centerpiece of the entire display at the Madison Avenue location, dubbed "Electric Holiday," is an animated cartoon film starring Minnie Mouse that will loop on LED tiles, according to NBC New York. The film, which Disney has worked on for over a year, focuses on the iconic character window-shopping for a Lanvin dress. Her shopping daydream eventually spawns into Paris Fashion Week, where Minnie indulges her high-fashion sensibilities. She also encounters an impressive list of A-list fashionistas, including Linda Evangelista, Jurgen Teller and Anna Dello Russo, as well as Disney celebrities like Captain Hook and the Cheshire Cat. The film concludes with Minnie, Snow White, Daisy Duck and Mickey Mouse strutting their stuff on the catwalk in various designer outfits.

"We thought, 'A huge force in fashion and a huge force in animation. What better than for these two companies to get together and do something for the holidays?'" Luis Fernandez, senior vice president of creative for Disney Consumer Products, told the news source.

The innovative window decoration is a departure from that of most storefronts during the holiday season. While LED holiday lights and Christmas tree lights are popular - and energy-efficient - choices for holiday-themed decorations at retail outlets, Barney's partnership with Disney allows the high-fashion company to attract visitors with a unique and family-friendly holiday presentation.
