format. The flat and web cameras perform the same.
The flat cam has a custom acrylic housing. The lid and base are attached using innovative magnets that really work, so you don't have to mess with screws. Cord channels allow the cord to exit on either the long or short side of the housing. The case also has 2 mounting holes in the base so you can mount the camera to a horizontal or vertical surface with no screw heads showing on the top surface. We recommend the flat camera, if the slight upcharge for the custom housing is in your budget.
Features common to both flat and web cameras:
- This camera has been retrofitted with a tight band pass filter at 850 nm. 850 nm is far more popular with our multitouch customers than other wavelengths. The tightness of the pass band means the camera is very discriminating, which is what you want for a multitouch screen. The combination of these cameras and our IR 850 nm strips is battle-tested and works great.
- The m12 mount version allows you to add m12 lenses to the camera so that you get perfect, adjustable focus. The CS mount version uses CS lenses. Be sure the lens and camera mounts you buy match.

- The PlayStation Eye is capable of capturing standard video with frame rates of 60 hertz at a 640×480 pixel resolution, and 120 hertz at 320×240 pixels, which is "four times the resolution" and "two times the frame-rate" of the EyeToy, according to Sony. (To get the 120 per second frame rate on this camera, you need to use a suitable driver, and you may need to adjust your computer's config.xml file.)

2.1 mm is an extreme wide angle fisheye lens and 3.6 mm is similar to the lens that ships with the OEM camera.

. If you need to be close with no distortion, get that.
Selecting the proper lens for your multi touch surface is very important to ensure a maximum image area while minimizing distortion. The focal length of the lens is determined by the screen size and the distance between the lens and the surface. This handy calculator
