These GU24 base sockets were designed to work with the new LVS (Line Voltage Socket) developed under the auspices of ENERGY STAR. That socket is only used for energy-efficient CFL bulbs, which prevents people from using inefficient incandescent lamps in lamps and fixtures that have the LVS. If you are responsible for lighting but aren't necessarily the person who actually replaces the burned out bulbs (typical in larger installations,) the LVS will prevent your staff from accidentally using energy inefficient bulbs. We expect this market to grow because people in commercial, office and hospitality buildings want to ensure their facilities are using efficient lighting and can do so with the LVS.

With traditional pin-base CFL's you have to change the pin socket to change the wattage of the bulb. That's not a problem with the GU24. The different wattages use the same socket. Use any wattage we offer, as long as it's energy efficient!
