Quick Overview

The Halco ProLED series is among the best available, and has been winning awards longer than most companies have been making LED bulbs. The Halco ProLED PAR38 won the prestigious Electrical Construction & Maintenance (EC&M) 2011 Product of the Year Award and the PAR30 won the 2010 Product of the Year Award. High flux (brightness), great color, superb dimming performance and terrific value.

Dimming notes:
Highly recommended: LED/CFL dimmers. Be sure you adjust the low-end trim control to remove undesired behavior when using Lutron Diva (DVCL-153P) or Skylark Contour (CTCL-153P). We saw dimming down to 1%/11% (measured/perceived) or lower in our tests. There is a slight "pop-on" susceptibility under about 11% measured brightness, but this is a very small issue, considering how difficult it is to make a bulb this small dim sweetly down to almost 0%. "Pop-on" means that it will dim nicely on the way down, but after reaching 0, it will not re-light on the way back up until the dimmer is well along its travel, so the light comes suddenly. The pop-on can be eliminated by adjusting the low-end trim control on the dimmer, but we think you'll probably want to adjust the low-end trim for deepest dimming and live with a little pop-on. You can also use Lutron Diva (DVELV-303P) or Skylark (SELV-303P) Electronic Low Voltage dimmers, but there's no point because the LED/CFL versions are better, less expensive and don't require a neutral wire. Leviton Vizia (VPE06-1) ELV will also work, but we do not sell it. We saw performance of about 6%/25% (measured/perceived) in our tests for those dimmers. We do not recommend Magnetic Low Voltage or incandescent dimmers for this bulb.
